Harvard's Robert Kegan and Lisa Lahey spent years inside three companies that made personal growth part of the daily job. Their observation will sound familiar: in many workplaces, people put a lot of energy into looking good. In these three companies, people are encouraged to show where they are still learning, and that energy goes into getting better.
Each company does this in its own way, from regular team check-ins to open conversations about mistakes. That makes the book a rich source of ideas, even if we borrow only one or two.
Talent Takeaway
It reminds us how much energy is freed up when people can say "I'm still learning this." A good first step: in your next team meeting, share one thing you are working on yourself. When leaders go first, others often follow.
Our Take
An inspiring look at what work can feel like when growth is part of the job. Full of ideas, including for teams that want to start small.
